Our Hudson/Passaic County is looking for an Outpatient Eligibility Coordinator.  This person will be responsible for performing all consumer insurance verification for clinical services to be provided.


  • Complete Outpatient Eligibility for all consumers, including verifying insurance coverage and co-pays/deductibles;
  • Perform front desk operations; Upon arrival to appointments, verify consumer insurance coverage, and politely and consistently requests and collects co-payments and payments for the visit during the day of service;
  • Schedule and verify consumer appointments; Handle walk-ins, cancellations, and reschedules;
  • Answer multi-line telephone system and emails;
  • Check Presumptive Eligibility(PE) for uninsured consumers
  • Assist with prior authorizations
  • Assist with intake authorizations;
  • Liaison to Outpatient Billing Department and Access to Care;
  • Perform additional office tasks and give assistance in department as requested by Director and Access to Care Department Staff
  • Participate in Recycle Management Committee;
  • Consistent reports to VP of Access to Care on Outpatient operations status


  • Bilingual Spanish a plus;
  • Associates degree preferred;
  • Preferred Certified Medical Biller;
  • 2 years Experience in scheduling, front desk, insurance verification/eligibility, denials, Medicaid/Private insurances, fee-for-service, and billing practices;
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form required;
  • Excellent Customer Service skills with specific problem solving abilities;
  • Knowledge of medical terminology;
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail/accuracy;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Basic math skills required;
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
